The Variety Club's Easy Riders Wheelchair programme is one of the most successful schemes of its kind in the entire world. In 2009 Easy Riders celebrated its 21st anniversary and with it, the achievement of providing more than 3,300 wheelchairs and mobility aids since 1988.

Easy Riders provides a massive range of wheelchairs to children who so desperately need them. Whilst provisions are made through the government for this type of equipment they are often the lowest spec and do not give children the autonomy which they require to reach their full potential. Variety recognises this and so each donation is personally tailored to the child's needs in order to provide them with as much flexibility and freedom as possible.

One of the major developments of the scheme over the past 21 years has been the introduction of sports wheelchairs to the programme. Sport can provide the release and ambition which disabled children often lack and Variety believes strongly that playing sport helps in all aspects of young people's lives.
